👉 A new therapeutic target for prostate cancer?

Prostate cancer’s metabolic activities are closely tied to androgen receptors 🔎 A recent study from Dr. Étienne Audet-Walsh at UniversitĂ© Laval, in collaboration with Dr. Martin Pelletier, focuses on IDH1, a pivotal enzyme that governs cellular metabolism and is regulated by androgen receptors đŸ’„

They found that in prostate cancer, IDH1 participates in energy production, and that when it is inhibited, proliferation of prostate cancer cells decreased 📉

This promising study reminds us of the importance of metabolism in pathological conditions. Metabolic disturbances have also been well explored in autoimmune diseases as well, and must continue to be! 🌟
