The Month of May: Lupus Awareness Month

During the month of May the ARThrite Center participates in several activities to raise awareness for lupus.

2024

  • Referring to the butterfly, the symbol of lupus, Centre ARThrite partnered with BFly, located at Galeries de la Capitale, a very popular shopping mall in the Quebec City area. BFly has a butterfly aviary open to the public, allowing both adults and children to observe beautiful butterflies flying freely in a space specially designed for them.
  • Lupus Canada’s $1,000 Challenge: more than $3,000 was raised for research by Yaneisy-Nynoska Tremblay.
  • On May 10, 2024, researchers and students from Centre ARThrite visited BFly, where a Radio-Canada report was produced: Radio-Canada report.
  • Montmorency Falls were also illuminated in purple for World Lupus Day!

BFly is a Quebec-based company founded in 2005 whose mission is to create a positive butterfly effect: a small gesture that can create major changes in children's lives. Inspired by the inspiring characters found in the magical world of books, free-flying butterfly aviaries were established in Brossard, Quebec City, and Laval, along with other activities that help develop the five qualities needed to achieve one's biggest dreams: dreaming, having confidence, taking action, staying positive, and persevering.
